Women’s Steelheading Fly Fishing School Oct 12th-17th, 2018
Morrison’s Lodge on The Rogue River near Grants Pass, Oregon
Swinging flies for Steelhead is fun and becoming quite popular. Please join me at a Women’s Only Steelheading School on the Rogue River. It will be held at the historic Morrison’s Lodge October 12 to 17th
The objective is to learn and/or improve your swinging skills for steelhead. By the end of the school you will have increased your odds of catching those elusive steelhead, all while in the company of other awesome women anglers. As a bonus, we will hopefully enjoy some spectacular, colorful fall scenery typical of Southern Oregon.
The school includes one day of “classroom” instruction and 3 days of guided fly fishing. During the classroom day you’ll learn how to spey cast, rig your lines, select and present flies, and identify and approach steelhead holding water. I will team with Darrel Hanks, head guide, for the classroom session. During your three fishing days, you and another angler will float with a guide knowledgeable of the best places to swing for steelhead. This will be a great opportunity to put your new skills to work, with the assistance of an experienced guide. This time of year, the Rogue has a unique combination of native and wild steelhead.
Lodging is at Morrison’s Rogue River Lodge and we have reserved units Taylor Creek #1 & #2 and Tuck A Way #1 and #2. Each unit has a mixture of king, queen and twin bedrooms and one central living room for socializing. Room assignments will be based on the order that you reserve your spot.
The school will start at 4:00 PM on Friday October 12th (check in at 2pm) and conclude with breakfast on Wednesday, October 17th with an 11 AM checkout. All meals are included. Breakfast (a hot buffet) and dinner are in the main lodge. Sandwich lunches on fishing days will be on the river.
The total cost is $1854. This includes 5 nights of lodging, all meals during this time, the classroom instruction day, and 3 days of guided fishing and a $54.00 BLM Fee. Not included are adult beverages, tips for guides, waiters, and housekeeping staff, as well as an Oregon fishing license. My assumption is you have the gear, aka waders, studded boots, wading staff, and a two hand rod. Let me know if you need a rod.
If you are interested in participating, register by clicking here or by contacting Morrison’s Lodge directly at 1-800-826-1963. Again – room assignments are based on the order in which reservations are made, so the sooner you reserve, the more options you have. A 50% deposit is due within 10 days of registering and the remaining balance is due 30 days prior to the school. If you cancel more than 90 days before the school begins, your deposit will be refunded. If you cancel within 90 days, you forfeit your 50% deposit, and if you cancel within 30 days, your entire payment is forfeited. Please contact Mary Ann Dozer at firstname.lastname@example.org or 541-760-6057 with any questions.
This school is by personal invite only and limited to 12. If you know of someone who may be interested, please give Mary Ann their contact information, so she can reach out to them. I will do no social media marketing.
I hope you join in on this great opportunity.
