This short video introduces you to “the roll cast tool”. The roll cast tool is essential to practice your roll casts when you can’t get to the water. Why the roll cast tool? It creates tension in your d-loop so as to mimic the water tension of your anchor (line stick on the water).
The following video shows a few roll casts tool choices and most importantly, demonstrates the use of the roll cast tool.
Roll Cast Tools
The following two photos depict a variety of roll casts tools to utilize when practicing on the roll cast. There is nothing fancy about these – just gizmos to create tension in your fly line when you can’t practice on the water.
Thanks to Jonathan Walters from Clear Creek Fly Casting for sharing his roll casts tools.
