Dave and I spent Friday and Saturday fishing the Metolius River. Yes some time together before I head to Idaho. On Friday we fished below Canyon Creek – plenty of water and yes some green drakes were active around 3:00 PM. We both caught fish on either a dry or a nymph. On Saturday we fished, I should say French Nymphed, above the Camp Sherman Store. Yes above the store. If you haven’t fished this water you must. It is great small stream water with lots of structure to read and lots of little fish. We both French nymphed and caught lots of fish. I would venture to say we each landed above 20 fish – none bigger than 12 inches. None the less – we enjoyed the nature and open water. The fly that was the key as a size 14 tungsten bead Yellow Sally. Yes my favorite .
